This rings so true for me! I decided to stick around in South Dakota after graduating from college, assuming I'd get married and have kids right alongside my friends.
Instead, I've stayed solo and I bought a fixer-upper. Here, I've hosted 3 of my siblings in varying long stretches as they've figured out their next steps. It is so good to be able to offer them a landing place, and a thing I never imagined for my future.
And I, too, have grown braver and less rigid as my expected plans dissolved.
